On December 17th, the Postdoc Committee is excited to host Seth Scanlon PhD, who is the editor of the Journal Science Immunology, to give a lecture titled 'Publishing in Science Immunology: An Inside Look', followed by time for Q&A.
Seth Scanlon is the Editor of Science Immunology. Hailing from Philadelphia, USA, he has a B.A. in biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania. While still at Penn, he worked in the laboratory of Michael F. Beers studying lung surfactant proteins. This was followed by a PhD in immunology 2010 at the University of Chicago under the supervision of Albert Bendelac. His thesis was the role of semi-invariant NKT cells in asthma. He then moved to Cambridge, UK, where he researched type 2 innate lymphoid cell (ILC2) regulation and trafficking in Andrew N.J. McKenzie’s group at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (2012–2016). This was followed by a six-month stint in Amy E. Saunders’ lab at the University of Manchester.
Seth was an associate and then senior editor at Science from 2017 until 2023, when he moved over to Science Immunology to lead its team of three editors.
