Title: Myeloid cells in glomerulonephritis: causing or clearing the damage?
Host: Richard Pouw
Marc is a staff nephrologist at the Amsterdam UMC, AMC location since 2022. During his medical studies at Maastricht University he performed his PhD on anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) glomerulonephritis, a form of small vessel vasculitis. Specifically he looked at the damage pattern in kidney biopsies. He worked as a postdoc at Stanford University on monocytes and macrophages in giant cell arteritis and ANCA vasculitis in the lab of Cornelia Weyand (2014-2015). He started his residency in 2016 at Amsterdam UMC and never left since. Currently he is researching various types of glomerulonephritis with a focus on monocytes and macrophages in the kidney tissue. He wants to know what their exact role is in the tissue damage.
