Prediction of response to IVIG in childhood ITP

David Schmidt, MD/PhD student at the Department of Experimental Immunohematology, has been awarded a Poster Prize at the Nordic Coagulation meeting (NordCoag) in Stockholm.

David’s poster concerned the prediction of response to intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) in childhood immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). Using material from a clinical trial, his team lead by Prof. Masja de Haas (Sanquin, LUMC) investigated if response to IVIG can be predicted by information obtained at diagnosis.
