Farewell to Marieke von Lindern!
NewsWith a heartfelt symposium dedicated to the medical priority of anemia—so central to Sanquin—we bid farewell to a true pioneer in hematology, Marieke von Lindern, as she enters retirement.
Marieke's work has been groundbreaking. She led pioneering research on the development of red blood cells from bone marrow stem cells, laying the foundation for today’s advancements in cultured blood production. Her contributions have truly shaped the future of blood research.
Equally remarkable was Marieke's leadership style. Her support and mentorship fostered an environment where friendship and scientific achievement flourished hand in hand. Marieke’s deep commitment to patients was always at the heart of her work, especially through her efforts with those affected by Diamond Blackfan Anemia.
Though she may be stepping down, Marieke’s legacy lives on. We know we’ll continue to see her in the lab and in her passionate advocacy. For now, we take this moment to thank her for the inspiring years at Sanquin and wish her all the best in this new chapter.
