Get to know Sanquin Diagnostic Services
The laboratories of Sanquin Diagnostic Services have two missions: performing diagnostic tests for hospitals and keeping the test portfolio at the forefront of knowledge by innovating, developing and validating new tests. Different divisions of Research & Development within Sanquin Diagnostic Services act as one team that support the Operations. Each having their own specialisation. Please, read further to get to know the labs you'll be closely working with:
Antibodies & Immunogenicity research and development (R&D) team
Antibodies & Immunogenicity develop tests to monitor level and immunogenicity monoclonal antibody therapies (aka biologics). These assays are used to optimise treatment of patients and to support clinical trials. The Antibodies & Immunogenicity team within R&D is continuously updating the portfolio of assays for new drugs that are on the market. In addition, the team develops techniques that are more sensitive, efficient and/or cost-effective.
Biomarkers research and development (R&D) team
The Biomarkers team have expertise in the field of complement system, auto-immune diseases and haemostasis. They support a varied array of assays either manual or automated.
At the moment, all internship positions within the different R&D teams have been filled for the 2024- 2025 school year. No additional internship position(s) are available unfortunately. Please, do bear with us. If there are no internships advertised, that means there are none at the moment. We expect to offer new internships in December 2025. Again: if they do not appear, they are not available. Please return to this website regularly for updates or take a look at the Internships at Sanquin Research page for more interesting positions!
Operations
Operations includes logistics, equipment, project management and everything else that comes with patient diagnostics. This means, for example, the receipt and processing of patient material, process optimisation besides the actual execution of patient diagnostics. There are multiple divisions within operations, team 5 highlighted as this team works closely with former R&D teams.
Operations Team 5: Biologics, autoimmune disease & immunopathology
These labs in Operations execute tests in the field of biotherapeutics, complement system and auto-immune diseases. The labs perform a varied array of assays either manual or automated: ELISA, nephelometry/turbidimetry, coagulation assays, immunofluorescence and flow cytometry.
There are currently no internships within operations. If there are no internships advertised, it means there are none at this time. We expect to offer new internships in December 2025. Again, if they don’t appear, they are not available. Please check this page regularly for updates.
