HID-INFRA

Research in the field of blood and blood-derived products is of great importance for the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play a role in the development of innovations in this field. However, SMEs face limited access to equipment and knowledge in the early (Proof-of-Concept) phase of their development, due to the high cost of state-of-the-art devices. Sanquin is the leading expert in the field of blood and its derivatives in the Netherlands, and its mission is to be an important facilitator for the success and growth of SMEs in this sector. To strengthen this ecosystem, the Sanquin group has set up the Health Innovation District (HID) Amsterdam. HID wants to further support SMEs via this project and has therefore joined forces with two partners, Lumabs and Sanagen.

The goal of the 3-year HIDINFRA project is to accelerate the proof-of-concept phase of SMEs in the field of blood and related products through a state-of-the-art infrastructure for research and development in this field. To achieve this goal, the project is divided into 2 parts:

  1. Setting up and preparing the planned infrastructure within HID
  2. Validation of the set up workflows and demonstrating the value of the infrastructure through two pilot cases.

The results of the project are a validated and sustainable infrastructure within HID, as well as PoC achieved for Sanagen and Lumabs.
