Blood collection employee training
At Sanquin, we place a high value on quality and safety. Donors must be able to make their donations unhindered. On the other hand, donations must be made safely so that patients can receive them as quickly as possible.
That’s why every new Sanquin employee is required to take the internal Donor Assistent Sanquin In Training (DASIO) training course, regardless of their background prior to starting work at Sanquin. This means all employees work together in accordance with the same procedures. The course consists of a practical and theoretical component and includes five modules:
- introduction
- reception
- donor screening
- whole blood collection
- eProgesa (the software we work with)
Learning objectives have been formulated for each component that address knowledge, skills and attitude. These highly practical modules are available at the blood collection location, and you can put everything you’ve learned into practice immediately! You will also receive lesson material for at-home study. Once you've gained a thorough understanding of a component, you will sit an exam. Depending on how quickly you absorb the material, the internal training will take between three and six months. Once you have completed your training, you will be an accomplished independent blood collection employee!
