Population DIS-I

In April 2007 data collection of the first Donor InSight (DIS-I) started. Between April 2007 and April 2009, each month 2,000 active whole blood and plasma donors were randomly selected and invited to participate.

A total of 50,000 donors (~13% of total donor population) were invited to take part in DIS-I, of whom 31,338 (63%) participated.

The participants received a written questionnaire (pdf). This questionnaires consisted of questions regarding demographic characteristics, donation, lifestyle, health, disease, family composition and medical history as well as menstruation, menopause and pregnancy.
